NICHOLAS BUUS, MA

 LMFT, QMHP

My roots are deep in this area. I was born and raised in rural South Dakota and transplanted to Sioux Falls for my education. I am an Augustana College alum and received my degree in Psychology. After working for a year in a hospital mental health program I decided to further my education by obtaining my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I began counseling at Stronghold Counseling Services as an intern in 2007. After the completion of my internship I continued as a Clinical Therapist at Stronghold.

I currently am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in South Dakota and Minnesota. I also received endorsement by the South Dakota Department of Human Services as a Qualified Mental Health Professional. I maintain a clinical membership to the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

We live in a fallen world, and strength comes in walking with people on their broken paths. Hope comes in creating a therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect and genuine care. I provide therapy for adolescents, adults, couples and families. I have a passion for people and their relationships with themselves, others, and God. My metaphor for relationships is like ripples created in water where a stone lands, each member of a system is affected by their choices and by the choices of those around them. I believe in the bottomless grace of God and view therapy as a way of providing others a non-judgmental, grace-based point of view.

In my time away from work, I enjoy my family, all types of sports, and photography. I look forward to working with you.
