Bethany Handsacker, MS

Counselor Intern

We are created to be connected to ourselves, others, and the broader community in which we live and disconnections or disruptions can cause pain and discomfort. My passion in therapy is to meet you where you are and provide a safe, non-judgmental connection in which you are free to explore those disconnects, what's difficult in your life, and where you want to go. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and my role is to work together with you to grow towards becoming the person you want to be.

Particular areas of specialty with individuals and couples are abuse, trauma, communication issues, life transitions, relational issues, identity issues, attachment issues, depression, and anxiety. My approach focuses on finding and utilizing each client's unique strengths and is drawn from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Contextual Family Therapy. The relationship and comfort between client and therapist is vitally important, and if I am not the right fit for you, I am committed to helping you find a therapist you connect with.

I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Northwestern College and obtained my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kairos University. I offer both telehealth and in person appointments and am certified in Gottman Level 1, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Prepare Enrich Marital and Premarital Therapy. I am continually seeking to increase my knowledge through further education to be able to better serve you.

I would be honored to meet you and work with you as you discover how to heal and grow into the person you are meant to be.
