Shannon Yockey, CSW, QMHP
I am grateful and blessed to be working along side everyone at Stonghold Counseling Services, and seeing where God leads and directs my passions and love for helping others. I was born and raised in rural South Dakota and settled in Yankton about three years ago.
I received a bachelors degree in behavioral health science from Grand Canyon University and my Masters of Social Work from the University of South Dakota. I currently am a licensed certified social worker in South Dakota as well as a Qualified Mental Health Professional. I am taking classes at South Dakota State University to receive my Play Therapy Certification.
I work with individuals as young as three years old all the way into adulthood. I have a person centered approach and strongly believe in meeting people where they aret. I believe that connection and building a strong therapeutic relationship is a key factor in healing and change. I am experienced in working with anxiety, depression, abuse and trauma, ADHD, adjustment, communication, parenting and family dynamics, suicide, grief, and an array of behavioral struggles.
When I am not in the office I enjoy spending time with my four boys, who keep me very busy with sports and other activities. I also enjoy going to concerts, traveling, listening to music, reading, expanding my professional knowledge and skills, and volunteering and spending time with my church family.
