CAROLYN SHORT MSW, CSW-PIP QMHP
I would like to introduce myself as a clinical therapist at Stronghold Counseling Services. I grew up in Georgia where I attended school and have gone on to live and provide counseling services in various locations in the US including Minnesota and Oklahoma. I am happy to have made Spearfish, South Dakota my home.
In 1999, I received my BA in Psychology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. In the spring of 2001, I graduated from the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia with an MSW in Social Work. I became clinically certified two years later in 2003 as a Clinical Social Worker and have had the privilege to gain certification in various trauma recovery techniques including EMDR and TF-CBT over the past several years. I have also received extensive training in Parenting with Love and Logic.
I am capable of providing individual and family therapy services. I have received educational and experiential training to address the following issues: anger management, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress concerns, abuse issues, parent/child and parent/teen conflicts, and grief and loss. I also have experience working with severely and persistently mentally ill adults. I incorporate a grace-based, biblical perspective to my counseling services. With God’s love and truth, hope is available and change is possible.
I am available for public educational workshops, trainings, or seminars on a variety of topics.
